3 Free Easy Last Minute Projects To Make
So, if you are anything like me and are scrambling to get presents done than this post is for you ! Earlier this week I mentioned that I haven’t finished shopping or making gifts for the people in my life…I made these 3 patterns quickly and I love how they turned out, so I thought I’d share ! In the comments below let me know any quick patterns you have !
2 knit hat patterns and crochet scarf – and a partridge in a pear tree. That’s a song, right? hahaha
Perfect Ribbed Hat – Knit
Yarn Used: Wool And The Gang x Joann’s Collab – 1 ball.
Time to Complete: 2.5 hours
Cast on 40 stitches (50 for men, or if you like a bigger hat).
Knit 1, purl 1 to the end.
Repeat this until hat measures 10 inches.
In the hat I made I began decreasing on the hat from each side, but I actually don’t like how it turned out….I suggest continuing the rib stitch until the hat is as tall as you would like it to be. For me that was about 12.5 inches
Sew edges together and form top of the hat so that it is flat.
Feel free to add a pompom or a crochet bow to the top to be extra festive !
Color Block Scarf Pattern – Crochet
Yarn used: 2 colors Caron Simply Soft in Limelight and Sage (if you want it to be monotoned feel free to use one skein of yarn).
Hook: G hook (or appropriate to your yarn)
Time To Complete: 3 hours
Special Stitches: Shell – 5 DC in same stitch
Chain 5 stitches
Row 1: In 3rd stitch from chain, Shell, sc in last chain, ch 5, turn
Row 2: Sl st in 3 DC of shell stitch from previous row, chain 5, DC in last stitch. chain 1, turn.
Row 3: sc 9 in previous rows chains all the way across, chain 1, turn.
Row 4: Chain 3, shell in 3rd stitch, skip a stitch, slip stitch, chain 1, skip a stitch, shell, skip a stitch, slip stitch, chain 1 turn.
repeat the sequence of above, you will see that the more single crochets you add (like row 3) the more shells you will be able to add and the wider it will get.
I went up to 6 shells, and repeated that row 4 times.
Repeat rows 1-4 for the other side, and repeat the same way you did on the first side. Fasten off and weave in ends, and sew together.
** If you are working with one color you can either do the same thing as mentioned above, or you can decrease.
To decrease feel free to change the amount of sc stitches by two in each repeat.
Apres Ski Hat
Yarn Used: The Cotton Yarn from We Are Knitters in Red
Needles: 9mm connected needles, dpns
Time to complete: 4 hours
Cast on 60 stitches, join. (for a mans hat or bigger circumference feel free to add more stitches.
Rib stitch until baand measures 1.5 inches (or desired with).
Rounds 1-4: Purl in each stitch around
Rounds 5-9: Knit in each stitch around.
Repeat this combination until hat measures desired length, or 10 inches
Begin decreasing with knit stitches. I began decreasing with the connected needles and then transferred to DPN’s to close off the hat. Once there were 4 stitches left I sewed the top of the hat closed and wove in any ends.
WHEW! That was a lot.
I hope you liked this post and that you found some use out of it. If you made any of these patterns please share with me on Instagram of Twitter. I hope you have a great time this holiday season and enjoy it with friends and family and make sure to take time for yourself as well !
