Bad Business- Black Sheep Society
I don’t like making negative posts or bashing other small businesses so please take this post with an open mind. I don’t want to be writing this post, trust me, but here we are a bad business post about the black sheep society.
The Order Process
I wanted to do a series on my blog about subscription services for yarn. So I planned some companies and black sheep society was one of them. (I would link to them but they no longer have a website…). So, I placed an order for a 1-month subscription box on 12/30/16. The ordering was easy, I believe I used paypal and the box cost $45 which is pretty expensive, but they offered a knitting and crochet project and I thought that was cool and wanted to see what it was about!
I read that they wouldn’t ship out for a few weeks so that was fine.
But it never shipped. Ever.
I kept an open mind and thought that’s okay, they might be out of stock and since I am a new subscriber they have to fill their other orders.
But it still never shipped.
So, I went to twitter to see what the company had to say. They didn’t have an updated tweet since September. I still sent a tweet and heard nothing. I went to check my order and it just says “order confirmed.” But I haven’t been able to get an update at all.
After this I checked their website – nothing stating their orders were delayed or cancelled. I contacted their customer service and gave my order number and explained the situation.
It still hasn’t shipped.
I also headed over to Facebook and it seems like I am not the only one who is having this problem.
Still no shipment.
The Company’s Response
I sent an e-mail and they responded fairly quickly which was nice but they had zero input or zero concern for my situation. They told me that because I ordered my yarn after December 19th, I was supposed to get the January box. First of all, I knew that. Second of all…
I was also informed that the owner of the company would provide a response and send information in an update e-mail which I have also not gotten. So…yea, I am out $50 and have no yarn to show for it and even worse, bad customer service.
I wrote this on 3/11/17 and didn’t want to post this until the company had gotten back to me regarding the issue and I have given them a fair opportunity to rectify the situation. I have gotten an e-mail from Johnny, the boss, and they stated that they were releasing a new yarn in May and that we would have our boxes by end of April…
Well it is May 9th and I am updating this post – still no box.
I am appalled by this lack of customer service and I was told that there would not be a refund. I am also appalled with the fact that they are worried about a new product and yarn that they are releasing. What about my box?
They did say that they would give us a $50 coupon which, let’s be real I will not be buying anything from this company. But I guess it’s nice that they offered?
Unfortunately, it was too little to late and I do not want to support this bad business. I still do not have a box and if I ever get it, I will provide an update post.
