Meeting Vickie Howell
This past weekend I had the opportunity to meet a living knitting legend. If you don’t know about Vickie Howell, or who she is you can get to know her here. Today’s post is a vlog about going to the WEBS yarn store and meeting Vickie Howell.
This event was hosted at WEBS which is an amazing yarn store in Northhampton Mass. I love this store and I haven’t been in a while so this was quite convenient for me!
When I knew that there was an event with Vickie Howell going on – I had to go ! Plus it was free !
The GPS took me a different way, which was actually a wrong address so I ended up being late. Which is okay, things happen. But I hate being late ! Anyway, I sat down and they were screening this episode of the Knit Show. This episode had one of the owners of WEBS featured in it and showing off a beautiful pattern !
Soooo good. It was exactly what I wanted a knitting show to be. Behind the scenes, learning patterns, interviewing industry mavens. Great idea and great show all around. The episodes are on YouTube and you better believe that I will be posting and promoting this show.
After the screening there was a Q&A with Vickie Howell. I had never met her or heard her speak so I didn’t really know how this would be. She blew all of my expectations out of the water (is that a saying?). She is so smart, funny, kind and REAL! I felt like she was answering questions genuinely and honestly which I know isn’t always that easy. Amazing. I really enjoyed this part and I went out of WEBS being so grateful that I had made it there and heard her speak. I am just so inspired to keep on hustling now !
The After Effect
On my way home, I realized something. In the episode that we watched she showed a few brands. Shibui Knits and Knitters Pride specifically. I realized, that I have worked with them too. obviously on a much smaller scale, but still !
I think for me, I compare myself to these huge bloggers and i don’t give myself enough credit when I deserve it. But I do deserve it because let’s be real – there is no reason for someone with my social media numbers to be getting brand deals and #ad work. But I do – because I work hard for them and that’s why I deserve it. I know that if I keep it up it will only ever get bigger. Slow and Steady.
Is there something that you are working toward that seems so out of sight that you’re not sure you’ll get there? What keeps you going?
