Slouchy Knit Hat Tutorial
Today’s video is a tutorial on a slouchy knit hat. Now you might have seen this up on my blog at a certain point, but if you haven’t, I added the written pattern below. I will explain later below.
I used Red Heart Cotton Yarn in Scarlett. Feel free to adjust and use any pattern you would like and use needles that are appropriate, I used 6mm
Cast on 60 stitches
If you are a beginner or a notorious for casting on tightly, feel free to knit the first row, if not proceed to the first row
Row 1: Knit 1, Purl 1 all the way around
Repeat this rib stitch until you get a band that is your desired thickness, I repeated for 4 rows.
Row 5: Knit across
Row 6: Purl across
Row 7: Knit across
Row 8, 10: Purl across
Row 9, 11: Knit across
Row 12: Knit across
Row 13: Purl across
Row 14: Knit across
Row 15: Purl across
repeat rows 5-15 until hat reaches desired length. The longer you make the hat, the slouchier it is.
Bind off and sew the hat top.
The Epic Fail
SO as I am writing this there have been 2 fails. I wrote this pattern post and had it uploaded on 12/23. You may have seen it! I also had the video edited and ready to go. You may be saying to yourself “well, today is the the 28th, so why am I just seeing these both now?”
Let me explain.
The video was edited and all I had to do was upload it. When I went to do that, it kept failing. I had no idea why, this had never happened to me before. I tried all the tricks I could. I also was about to re-edit it on a different computer. Anyway, I figured it out and it finally uploaded!
The second fail.
To make matters worse I migrated my website on Monday which caused me to lose a few posts and drafts I had written up and ready to go. Not a huge deal, but still pretty frustrating. That is why the pattern was deleted, so I re-wrote it for you guys to have!
Lessons learned: backup draft posts 🙂
