If you don’t know, Warm up America is a great charity in which you can knit and crochet squares to create an afghan, once they are all stitched together you can send them to a hospital, animal shelter, homeless shelter or any other charity of you choice! I loved this idea, and I am sure a lot of you guys do as well.
The event was great, people could bring and drop off the squares that they had made or pull up a chair and make one right there.
I got to sit and knit with some fabulous women from different parts of the state. We shared what we are interested in, all the different types of crafts we’ve done, planned to do, want to do and the best part? When someone needed a hand all of us were up and ready to help out – fabulous!A
Here’s a photo of just a few of the squares we made and collected to create the afghan! I was extremely happy because I brought a bunch of my in between yarns. You know, the not scrap yarn, but the not enough left in the skein to create something without buying some more.
Anyway, I got through all of the yarn I brought and I couldn’t be happier that it was used for such a good cause. Now I know what to do with it when it gets to that level.
I had such a good time with the ladies that came out to Michael’s, we got a good amount of squares but there is always room for more so I will still be creating some when I get the chance and have yarn to use.
By the way, if you are in the Greater Hartford region of CT and would like to donate a square to this, we will still be collecting them through the Avon Michael’s – just let one of the sales associates know what it’s for and they’ll know what to do with it!
