We Are Knitters Recap and Review!
Today’s post is something I have been working on and waiting to do for a month! I am so happy and excited to share my review on We Are Knitters! I made a whole video on it below – make sure you check out the bloopers – I think filming makes me go nuts!
The Knit Kits
As you know from my first video and post I was given 3 knit kits to try out and give my review on.
Sage Beanie
The first project I was given was the Sage Beanie A really great first knit kit to work on. The hat works up in under two hours and it is so fluffy and soft you just want to have all of your clothes and accessories made from this yarn. The pattern is far from basic as there is a really nice intro to fleurs isle stitching in this pattern. It’s great for an advanced beginner who is comfortable with working with two colors of yarn.
Pro Tip: Buy contrasting colors like blue and white, red and white, any combination that will really make the pattern POP. The Mauve and Lead color are beautiful but they are so close in tone that it makes it hard to see the pattern off the bat.
Also! There is enough wool to make two beanies! Probably three! woohoo!!
Barima Scarf
The next project I worked on was the Barima Scarf probably my favorite crochet pattern they offer. It is a triangle scarf and it uses a triangle stitch which kinda confused me at first, but once I read it and practiced I got it down, i kept working without even thinking about it!
I loveeeee this scarf and I wear it all the time, especially with my leather jacket it just looks so cool!
Pacific Sweater
This project I saved for last – the best for last! It is this huge big open sweater and it looked so cool on the model. Once I finished it I thought to myself “well…I’m not a model” but I put it on and felt so chic!
I plan to wear it with a tank top as I did in my video or just a lacy or strappy bralette in the warmer seasons – can’t wait!
The Yarns
Guys – the yarns are the bomb dot com. The wool that I used for the beanies was so chunky and soft and it doesn’t fray or pill! so easy to work with which makes it so enjoyably. The Merino that was used for the barima scarf is unique in that it doesn’t fall apart. But if you watched my video than you know I am in a deeply committed relationship with the cotton yarn. SO soft, SO breathable and yet SO sturdy. How??! I don’t know but I will be buying all of the colors – you can use my code 1001wak for 15% off!
The Tools
I think the knitting needles are on point! Litterally, they are so sharp that even the 15mm big daddies are sharp and easy to work. I didn’t love the crochet hook that was given, the 5mm, but I purchased the size 19 hook myself and I think that one is much better.
