How To Use Your Yarn
So, I am a self proclaimed yarn hoarder as you all know. I recently bought an obscene amount of yarn in addition to my already overflowing stash, I recently started using up quite a bit of yarn, so I thought I would write about how to use your yarn for my fellow yarn hoarders.
Plan Big Projects
When you buy yarn you may or may not have a project in mind. That’s okay. Some of my best projects have come from yarn that I didn’t know how to use. Even if you have one skein of something – plan something big. Like a shirt, a shawl, or a big scarf. Don’t buy more until you are sure of what you are making, but start something big. That way you will be sure you are using your yarn to it’s fullest
Mix Colors
Mixing colors is a great way to use not one, but two skeins! I love it. It’s also a really good skill to practice because I know changing colors whether you’re knitting or crocheting can be scary for most, but practice makes progress.
Make Two
If you have a skein or a ball of yarn and you make a hat out of it, why not make two? Make one for your daughter, friend, sister, or mother – after all it is mother’s day soon! Making doubles of something is a great way to use up your yarn for obvious reasons. Maybe you learned something from the first try that you can perfect in this project. When I used to sell my products I wanted customers to get the best of the best, so to me it sometimes meant making one and then another one. I feel like DJ Khaled #anotherone.
Swatch First
I never swatch, because I am not a perfect crafter, but if you need to use some yarn up why not swatch some ideas you are having? Remember that different yarn works up differently so it won’t be the same throughout, but if you have ideas – try them!
