Today’s post and video is a quick little tutorial on a knitting rib stitch. Keep reading and watching to learn more!
A rib stitch is a great stitch to have for any knitter! It can take your pattern from simple to sophisticated in two steps, or should I say stitches. It’s a combination of Knitting and Purling, so make sure you have your basics down!
Ribbing can be any combination of stitches, the thicker the rib requires a more knits/purls combo. In this video I show you my favorite rib stitch, a 2X2!
Cast on an even amount of stitches,
Row 1: Kn2, P2 repeat combination til end of row
Repeat row 1 until you achieve the height you want for the ribbing.
If you want to do a thicker rib, make sure the amount of stitches you cast on are divisible by the stitches you knit. Example: If you want your ribbing to be 3 stitches by 3 stitches, cast on a number that is divisible by 3.
