As many of you might already know, I am an Influenster. This is a really cool site, all you have to do is review products you like, dislike, tried etc. If you do enough of these and have a good social following they sometimes send you cool things that you can review, for free! So, while this mascara was sent to me by Influenster, all opinions are my own, honest opinions. Enjoy!
YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils Mascara
When I found out I was receiving a mascara I was pretty excited, I am a makeup junkie and absolutely LOVE mascaras. But then when I found out I was getting a YSL Mascara I think I screamed, and did a dance maybe. This is fancy stuff and I am not used to it! I mean don’t get me wrong, I have makeup that is high end but that’s only after watching a bunch of YouTube videos and reading review after review. I would never drop money on something I didn’t know that much about, and thus probably wouldn’t have bought this product myself impulsively.
So let’s get to the review, shall we?
It’s really nice! I mean obviously, it’s YSL. That being said I had extremely high hopes for this product because it is so expensive (Retails for $32!). I am happy to report that this mascara met all my expectations! I wanted it to make my lashes look full AND curl them. My lashes are pretty long to begin with so I never really worried about length, but I think they did add some length.
This wand is a nylon fiber brush, and I personally prefer fiber bristles over a plastic wand.
I think this formula is great. It’s not wet, which I hate, but isn’t too dry that it makes it difficult to work with. The other thing I want to mention is it smells amazing! I am not sure what’s in it but it smells like perfume. Definite plus!
The product says it promises to achieve absolute dramatic lashes in a single stroke. I will say that I am on the fence about this and this is why. When I used this mascara I didn’t use an eyelash curler because I think they look barbaric and it curled my lashes well enough. I also have very long lashes to begin with, so one coat was plenty, but I do not know how it would work for someone who has short and sparce lashes.
The formula really works well, it doesn’t transfer, doesn’t melt or give raccoon eyes and it lasts a long time! Also, I checked their website and they offer it in 6 colors!
The only con is the price. $32 for a mascara is a pretty penny! I know not a lot of people can afford to buy that and that is why it’s a con. I also am not sure that one coat would work for everyone’s lashes…
