I thought I would pop in here for a different kind of post. I wanted to share some of my mom memories since mother’s day was on Sunday and I would love to extend that to you and share some great memories together!
Flute and Piano Duo
My mom is an amazing professional pianist. When I was growing up I took an interest in playing the flute (and I was pretty good!). I was about 9 years old when I started to play the flute but it wasn’t until I was older that my mom would help me practice. She is a perfectionist and she expected the best from me. She is also so knowledgeable about different types of music and genres it was really beneficial to me since I would compete (I told you, I was pretty good).
Anyway, I had this one song I was practicing that was a really tough song by Faure and once I got it in good shape I gave her the piano accompaniment and it was so pretty! We played really well together, even if I did always give her a hard time and thought I knew best. I was a teenager – what do you want from me!?
What’s The Capital Of…
As many moms out there, my mom had to drive me to a bunch of places. Actually I think my parents did a good job of splitting this, but when it came to my flute lessons my mom always drove me. My Flute teacher was a friend of my moms but she lived 45 mins away from us. Want to know how we entertained ourselves?
My mom is the most brilliant person that I know and she knows the capital of every country. That is not a joke…she knows the capital of every. single. country. So, my job as a child was to find some that would stump her. There were maybe a handful of countries that she didn’t know. I tried so hard trying to find one she didn’t know that I inadvertently learned a lot myself.
Moldova? Cisnau (Kishnev)
and my personal favorite is the capital of Nepal – Kathmandu.
It’s pretty cool and impressive when it comes up with some of my friends and family, and I always think of those times driving with my mom.
“Look at Felice’s Blog, video, etc”
I am lucky to have two supportive parents. They are always proud of me and whenever I make a new video or blog post they are the first ones to talk about it. My mom is always talking to her friends “Oh, Felice made this video on YouTube. here let me show you” or “look at this beautiful Shawl, Felice made it.”
She is also the first to say when something is bad or doesn’t look great and I love her for that. She will probably be my quality assurance in the future 😉
Share a favorite memory with your mom!
