The past couple of weeks I have been teaching knitting classes and I thought I would share what I learned, what I’ll continue to do and what I probably won’t do anymore. I love being able to teach my knitting class and I can’t wait to keep it up!
What I Learned
I have been teaching classes for a about a year or two on and off and each time I teach a class I learn something knew. This time around I realized that I need to keep it simple. My class this time around is a beginning to knit class where I teach the basics.
In the past I would bring hand outs galore, rush through them, show them everything. It didn’t leave us much time to actually knit. This time around I kept it simple. I taught them the slip stitch, knitting and purling. And while they were working,I explained yarn weights, different stitch types, etc. This made it more of a close knit group (pun intended). At the end of the class, I provided the aforementioned hand outs.
What projects would you like to see if you were attending a Knitting or Crochet Class?
