Welcome back to Wednesday friends! Today I wanted to talk about a decision I made recently and I thought I would share with you. I am quitting craft fairs, for now.
The last craft fair I was at was…sub par. While I was there I realized that the cost-benefit of this type of fair is just not worth it for someone like me. I work on my and create my own products. I also buy all the products myself for 1001knits. On top of that, I pay for the space to sell, plus time being at the fair as well as travel. If you factor all of those pieces in it’s a pretty low benefit.
While I don’t think that I am a seasonal market, I do think that you weather has to do with sales. For example, it’s still bitterly cold outside but it’s sunny and you can feel spring coming any day now. (Really, spring, where are ya?)
So, not that I don’t want to be doing craft fairs anymore, I just want to focus when I schedule them more that the items im selling are season appropriate. I think if I plan for more fairs in the fall and winter months I’ll be more successful.
It takes a LOT of energy to do a craft fair. I am a more introverted person as it is so I really have to “on” when I am at the fairs. Let me tell you it might not seem like much but I am drained by the end of the day. It’s almost as if I have to do mental push ups to do these events !
Not to mention the stress I put myself through in regards to planning and prepping for an event ! Well, I guess I can do better at time management and not prep for a fair in 3 weeks…
