About two weeks ago I started incorporating a different type of diet called the Keto diet. I’ve heard so much about it and have listened to Tim Ferriss who lives on it, and other lifestyle bloggers that have changed to the diet. The basic of this diet is high fat, low carb.
Now, for me, it’s kind of hard because I don’t eat meat, so I have to find my fat from lean places like eggs, fish, avocado and some dairy products and veggies. Here’s an idea of what I eat in a day
Coffee, decaf (unless I’m exhausted) sometimes with whole milk.
Fried egg. I use natural olive oil or ghee to cook my eggs.
I usually get a salad with tuna and avocado.
This one is always hard for me, but I like to either have some fish (Salmon, Tuna, or swordfish), and some steamed veggies, some pesto, kraut and or some good quality cheese.
I am one of those people who can eat the same thing every single day and not get bored. So, that part isn’t hard for me. However, it is hard for me to understand the “net carbs” and which are good and which are bad. So I do my best, and I honestly do feel pretty good. Because of the high fat content I don’t feel that hungry during the day.
However, there is something called the “keto flu” and it really is flu like, but it’s temporary. Actually, from what I’ve read it’s because your body isn’t used to burning the fat and being in ketosis, so as it starts to reach ketosis your body changes and that’s what makes you feel sick. It doesn’t last long and it’s not viral, you just feel lazy and like you’re dying, haha, that’s all, no biggie haha.
I have lost about a pound and a half since I started which isn’t too bad, and I think about a half percentage in body fat. That’s where I really want to focus my efforts in.
What are your thoughts on Keto? Have you done it, are you on it?
